Today’s video is a collab with Vegan Lovlie! We’re both tackling a recipe with bittermelon, a unique vegetable that’s present in both Vietnamese and Mauritian cuisine. My take is a vegan Vietnamese stuffed bittermelon soup (known as Canh Khổ Qua).

From Wikipedia: Trypophobia is a proposed phobia (intense, irrational fear, or anxiety) of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. The condition is not officially recognized as a mental disorder, and is rarely referenced in scientific literature.
Although few studies have been done on trypophobia, researchers hypothesize that it is the result of a biological revulsion that associates trypophobic shapes with danger or disease, and may therefore have an evolutionary basis.
The term trypophobia is believed to have been coined by a participant in an online forum in 2005. Since then, the concept of trypophobia has become popular on social media.
Cool recipe thx bud
THANK YOU FOR THE VIETNAMESE VEGAN RECIPES!! As a vietnamese myself I love the nostalgic factor this video gave me, I've eaten this dish all throughout my childhood and seeing a veganized version makes me so happy!
I have the flu so I have been eating a lot of kanji and I miss measured my mushroom broth powder which I hang on to like gold because I have to order it and everything was a mess it also over boiled my entire stove is now covered in brown starch! I made a second badge in the rice cooker and I've got to make sure my assistant doesn't throw it away because this one came out good but I would never make it without the mushroom broth powder and a couple of dried shiitakes.
I want vegan lovelie quite often and like them quite a bit.
Funny I was happy when I became vegan so I wouldn't have to eat this dish anymore!!!! But glad to see good old vietnamese dishes being veganised great stuff 🙂
I have tried bitter melon many ways even overseas from native Cooks. I am going to try this. I never was one to like anything better but I want to learn to like it because it's so good for me.
love this! i'm trying to slowly transition my way into the vegan life but i always hesitate because i love eating viet food so much! whenever i look on youtube for vegan recipes there's never any legit asian/viet vegan recipes, so for this THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!
I wonder if this taste like traditional bittermelon or does it. taste totally different because it's vegan
Veganlovlie brough me here 👍👍👍👌
I love their recipes
I like this seitan recipe. Only thing is, I leave out the wine and the corriander. Sooooo good! http://www.revolutioninbloom.com/recipe/basic-seitan/
I hate the judgement that come with being a Vietnamese Vegan, people can't just seem to get it in their heads that I don't want to hurt animals. Has nothing to do with marriage or Buddhism or any of that crap. 🙄
I typically boil my seitan for half an hour–(many of my seitan recipes came from Connie's rawsome kitchen)–she has some great recipes for mushroom powder and "beefless" soup stock as well…thanks for the recipe–I love bitter melon!…maybe the seitan can be partially boiled before stuffing?…just a thought!
yumm. i see bitter melon in the grocery store sometimes but i had no idea how to prepare it in a meal so i will probs make a gf version of this
I used to love eating this dish, and I miss it. Not a big fan of seitan, but I'll try your recipe ! Like others, I was surprised at how cooking seitan for only 10 min would turn out, as it usually takes more time than that, but I'll experiment.
Fun video. Thanks!
My grandma used to eat these and my dad just loves the bitter melon. This brings back so much memory. Thank you.
Omg yes! This used to be one of my fav dishes my mom would make me before I became vegan. I'm so excited to try to make this! Yum!
